MEET THE MÜSE: Lillian Ann Baumbach

Welcome to MEET THE MÜSE - A short, sharp SÜK column about historical figures who inspire us. We share some of the achievements and loveable quirks about these characters of the past that really float our boat. This is a nod to the OG trail blazers, or just simply headstrong people who did things their way in real SÜK style.
Lillian Ann Baumbach
In 1951, she became the first accredited female plumber.

Born to a master plumber with his own business, LILLIAN, at the age of 21, after learning aspects of the company and shadowing her father, became accredited herself.
She soon made the papers for this historical first and became known as the ‘pretty plumber’. She was so loved that she became somewhat of a beloved public figure, appearing on television and even becoming the official pin-up girl for the troops during the Korean War.
She was known as ‘The Pretty Plumber’ with excellent trades skill and can do attitude. She also reportedly kept correspondence via letters as a dedicated pen pal to over 200 troops during the Korean War.
We find all this deeply SÜK - A woman who earned her trade, excelled in it and enjoyed looking good too.
