It's Time to Embrace Our Strengths and Weaknesses

In a world where it’s all about talking about your strengths, I’d like to get real about weaknesses.
It works against everything we’ve built at SÜK to pretend like I am not totally human, fallible, and learning every day how to do this thing called ‘life’ and ‘business’ and ‘motherhood’—it comes with stuff ups, bang-ups, and hang-ups.
Weakness is a beautiful thing when you can own it. It makes space for others to step in with their strengths, providing opportunity and collaboration. It also makes you human and relatable - the alternative is machine-like and alienating, which in my opinion is bad for business and sparks zero joy.
So here are my 3 favourite weaknesses. I say favourite cause I think they are cute. I am a messy messy moving feast.
1. Chaos.
I am chaotic and like to change paths last minute if I sniff out a better idea. I get excited about a new plan and get started on it straight away and forget to communicate. I have learnt to lean into organised minds to keep me on track and accept some ideas need to wait for round 2.
2. Silence.
I am a loner by nature and process quietly. I have learnt over time that this can give the impression that I don’t care. I have worked hard to do what feels like over-communicating to me, to ensure people know I’m considering them and their perspective.
3. Ambition.
Once I would have said I have zero ambition, I thought this quality related to money and status- two things I’ve never been very focused on. But I see now I dream big and feel hungry to see good ideas take shape, if unchecked this can lead to frustration and disappointment, a feeling of never being satisfied. I keep this in check by frequent gratitude checks and remembering what’s really important: family, health & the big picture.
