Six Absolutely Honest Business Lessons

Six Absolutely Honest Business Lessons

After 6 beautiful years in business and another handful of years gearing up to launch - I consolidated some of my biggest lessons into 6 punchy points - and I found it all boils down to one thing:

1. Mind your own beeswax and try to do good work. Hire people who do that too (see point 3)

2. Know what you’re good at, be passionate and a bit pedantic about it. Defer to others in your team on anything else (see point 3)

3. Your team is everything - hire slowly and smart.

4. Keep in mind that people who may love a start-up feel may not love a small or medium business feel - these are different vibes, skills, and mindsets (see point 3)

5. Change is inevitable and sometimes messy. Be like water and go with the flow. Let the word GRACEFUL embody you. Take on growth, setbacks, and difficult dynamics with this word at your core. And gather people around you who do likewise (see point 3)

6. Keep the love. Hold tight to the first reason you started doing what you are doing, vision can be lost in the day to day running of a business - try and leave this to people who are passionate about that and really good at it. (see point 3.)
